Reported problems by users included being logged out of Facebook and receiving error messages like “something went wrong” when attempting to log back in. Please give it another try. According to monitoring firm Downdetector, on Tuesday, March 5th, at around 10:30 AM ET, error reports surged. Downdetector received complaints of over 500,000 errors by around 11 AM ET. Approximately 76% of reported issues by Facebook users were related to difficulties logging in.
Additionally, Instagram users complained that they were unable to upload anything on the app, and their feed wasn’t refreshing. The company’s app like Twitter, Threads, and Meta’s messaging platform also experienced outages. Threads was released last year.
At 10:52 AM ET, Meta spokesperson Andy Stone tweeted on ex-Twitter, “We know some people are having trouble using our services. We’re currently working to resolve this.”
The Facebook login status website announced “major outages” and said, “We are aware of an issue affecting Facebook logins,” in a notice sent out at 10:17 AM ET. Our technical teams are working hard to find a quick solution to the problem. In an update at 12:07 PM ET, the page indicated that Facebook login services are “in the process of being restored.” We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this.
