“Fox News has learned that amidst allegations of corruption, House Republicans have demanded Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, has summoned Willis because he is accused of federal fund misuse in Georgia. He is also accused of firing a whistleblower from his office on the same issue.
Willis has been in the headlines for the past two years as he has been accused of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election against former President Trump.
The summons is for documents related to the receipt and use of federal funds at the Fulton County DA’s office and extends to documents and communications related to Justice Department office programs, juvenile justice offices, and federal funds, but is not limited to, crime prevention, and community-oriented policing services.
In addition, he is being asked to submit all documents related to allegations of misuse of federal funds from the same office.
Willis’s office responded immediately after the summons was made public on Friday.
In a statement obtained by Fox News, they said, “These false allegations are part of a baseless case filed by a holdover employee from the previous administration, which was terminated for cause.” “The courts that have heard these cases have found no merit in these claims. We expect the same outcome in any pending cases.”
They said, “Any investigation of our grant programs will show they are highly effective and are conducted in compliance with all Department of Justice requirements. Our federal grant programs focus on assisting at-risk youth and sexual assault survivors who have long been overlooked. Our federally funded sexual assault kit initiative has been highlighted as a model program by the U.S. Attorney General. We take pride in our partnership with our grant programs and the Department of Justice in providing justice to Fulton County, a safer, more just place.”
It says, “The committee’s oversight of the use of federal grant funds by your office is particularly relevant in light of the public whistleblower allegations that federal funds have been misused.”
The letter alleges that a portion of the $488,000 federal grant allocated to help at-risk youth was used for “frivolous, unrelated expenses.” It states that the money was used for MacBook, clothing, and travel.”
